Sam Baker turned
inward, to relearn the use of his body and brain after a Peruvian train bombing
almost killed him in 1986. The road back was arduous, but it opened up new
vistas in art, poetry, and music. Mercy (2004) was the first of the
trilogy released, followed by Pretty World (2007) and Cotton (2009). Gretchen
Peter's Blackbirds establishes her as a one-of-a-kind
singer and songwriter in possession of a fearless and creative voice. It
contains modern American roots music from Jerry Douglas, Jason Isbell, Jimmy
LaFave, Will Kimbrough, Kim Richey, Suzy Bogguss and more.
