THE MEETING-MARTIN LUTHER KING AND MALCOM X - Cincinnati Event

953 Eden Park Drive
Cincinnati, OH 45202

Cincinnati Black Theatre Company presents The Meeting Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X never sat down and talked out their differences. But what if they had? King, a university educated minister, believed in achieving racial equality through non-violence. Malcolm, a self-educated streetwise hustler turned Muslim, believed in racial independence and self-defense. Suppose these polar opposite ideologues sat down together for an hour in a Harlem hotel room? That is the premise of Jeff Stetson's play, 'The Meeting'. Produced by the Cincinnati Black Theatre Company, the message of the piece is a timely one for Cincinnatians. This is a play that everyone should attend, Kamau Means, who plays the part of King, said. Professors, city council, boycotters, business men, the average citizen and grassroots organizations. A grassroots organization was how the whole civil rights movement started! Filled with intense, passionate and sometimes volatile exchanges between King and Malcolm the piece gives depth and humanity to men who are known only as icons to the current generation. The play is a fitting tribute to both men because it gives the audience an opportunity to remember them not only as political figures but also as fathers, husbands and vulnerable men who carried the weight of their people. Date and Times: Friday January 12th and Saturday January 13th 2:00pm and 7:30pm Ticket Price: $20.00 Location: Cincinnati Art Museum Eden Park Fath Auditorium 953 Eden Park Drive Cincinnati, OH 45202 For more information contact us right now at (513) 241-6060 or www.cincyblacktheatre.com
