Big Band & Bourbon--A Derby Day Event - Cincinnati Event

La Salle High School Jazz Band Hosts Derby Day Event Featuring P&G Big Band

MONFORT HEIGHTS, OH, April 2--The La Salle High School Jazz Band is bringing the P&G Big Band, Bourbon and the most exciting two minutes in sports to La Salle High School for the first ever Big Band & Bourbon event on Saturday, May 4 at 5:30 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to break out their best big hats and bow ties for the event, which will raise funds for the band program at La Salle High School. The La Salle High School Marching Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble and Winter Guard are self-supporting and have students from area schools including La Salle, Mercy McAuley, St. Ursula, and Roger Bacon high schools as well as St. Ignatius, John Paul II, St. Dominic, St. John the Baptist, and Our Lady of Grace grade schools.

“Big Band & Bourbon is a one-of-a-kind fundraiser that supports all of our band programs,” said Angelo Sylvester, director of band and ensembles at La Salle High School. “Our hope is to provide an event that not just raises funds, but engages our community through a fun and exciting event you can’t find anywhere else.”

Guests at the May fundraiser will be able to watch coverage of the Kentucky Derby, while mingling and sipping on mint juleps, the bourbon-infused signature drink of the Kentucky Derby. The event also includes a BBQ buffet dinner catered by Velvet Smoke, an open bar, derby-themed games, and a silent auction of student-decorated derby hats.

The party will continue into the night with music and dancing, featuring the P&G Big Band and the La Salle High School Jazz Band, where party goers will dance to the music and maybe even learn to swing dance!

We are thrilled to be part of the La Salle Band fundraiser, and others like it, which help equip our local kids to become tomorrow’s leaders.”

This event is open to the public, and individual tickets are available at www.lasallehs.net/bigband for $50. All proceeds from the event will benefit the students of La Salle High School band programs.
