The Barber Of Seville - Cincinnati Event

January 11, 2020 - Cincinnati

1945 Dunham Way
Cincinnati, OH 45238
5135884988

Courtesy of a grant from Price Hill Will and the Sunset Players, the Arts Center at Dunham Free Family Fun Series kicks off the new decade with ROKCincy’s adaptation of the famous opera, The Barber of Seville on Saturday, January 11 at 2 pm.

Sung in English and Italian, this show stuns with familiar music, vocal fireworks and high energy hi-jinks. Rosina has been grounded by her strict guardian, Dr. Bartolo, and isn’t allowed to enter her project into the State Science Fair. Her teachers, Mr. Figaro and Ms. Susannah, know that she can win first place if they can only get it submitted. They’ll need all their cunning and more than a few tricks to make it happen. The performance is about 40 minutes in length and includes a Q&A session with the performers afterward. Appropriate for grades K-6 and their families, but all ages are welcome!

ROKCincy is a non-profit program with a mission to introduce young people (or anyone interested in learning more about opera) to the thrill of live, fully staged opera and to give developing professional musicians an opportunity to hone their performance skills through experience…. in the humorous and energetic way only ROKCincy can!

Special Opportunity for Attendees - After the Show:
Meet the cast and creew for an interactive discussion about the production and their work with ROKCincy.

Note: Interpreters from Cincinnati State’s Sign Language program will provide services for hearing impaired attendees that would like to experience the spectacle of live opera.
Although this is a FREE event, reservations for performances in the ACAD FREE Family Fun Series can be made online, or by calling 513-588-4988. The facility opens one hour prior to show time. Seating is general admission so please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to curtain for the best seating selection. Patrons with reservations will be seated prior to walk-ins if we are close to capacity. Seating will be held for all with reservations until 15 minutes prior to curtain. Unclaimed reservations will be released for walk-in patrons at that time.

This historic venue is not wheelchair accessible. Attendees must be able to navigate 2 short flights of stairs, both with handrails.  There are 3-4 steps from the outside to the Box Office/Lower Lobby and another 6 from that level to the theater level.  Patrons with difficulty walking longer distances, or on uneven surfaces, can be dropped off by the walkway to the front entrance of the facility.

PARKING IS FREE!
